Cardiac Rehab Exercise Compliance Made Easier

New Self-Management tool provides encouragement for follow through

PHOENIX, AZ – June 4, 2007 – One of the biggest hurdles for any cardiac rehab program is to motivate patients to comply with exercise prescriptions and lifestyle changes. It is a challenge to provide regular, consistent motivation and constant reinforcement of desired behavior changes.

To help solve this problem, Positive Workouts announced today the release of its new Cardiac Rehab Exercise CD. This product was designed specifically for men currently enrolled in a Cardiac Rehab program, including a 30-minute treadmill exercise prescription.

The Positive Workouts Cardiac Rehab CD incorporates four specific elements designed to help patients make a mind/body connection and facilitate healing on all levels -- physical, emotional and mental – during the workout. These elements include:

(1) A specially-designed 2 minute warm-up and a 2 minute cool-down

(2) Positive self-talk tracks that enhance optimism, attitude and quality of life

(3) Lifestyle coaching commentary to help foster and reinforce new habits

(4) Original musical compositions targeted at the primary age demographic

While many research studies have proven the effectiveness of each of these elements, no product or program has effectively combined them for maximum effectiveness.

The repetitive motion of walking or running invokes the relaxation response, also known as the workout zone. While in the workout zone, patients are relaxed, engaged in the activity, and their mind is available for cognitive restructuring.

With the help of cardiac rehabilitation patients at the Arizona Heart Institute a survey was conducted that provided information that helped with the development of the program. The CDs can be purchased through Cardiac Rehab facilities, Cardiology offices or patients can order them directly at www.positiveworkouts.com or call toll-free (877) 594-4285.

Production also is underway for an exercise CD for women with heart disease. The emotional and demographic differences between men and women with heart disease make it necessary to produce dedicated programs that meet each gender’s unique needs. “We are doing the research to understand the needs of women – and address them with a new CD in order to make the best possible program” says Wanda Stingley, President of Positive Workouts LLC.

Positive Workouts LLC is an emerging developer of CDs and MP3 files that facilitate healing through movement, music and the mind/body connection.
